Established IP and Technology Law Firm Seeking Data Privacy Attorney in Alexandria, VA
A nationally recognized intellectual property and technology law firm with nearly 20 years of experience advising innovative companies and startups is seeking a Data Privacy Attorney to join its team in Alexandria. Maier & Maier serves clients across a range of industries including software, biotech, and e-commerce, providing strategic counsel on emerging data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance issues. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with clients at the forefront of innovation while building a privacy practice in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Offer:
$150,000 - $185,000 annual base salary depending on experience and privacy certifications

Qualifications:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar license in Virginia and/or DC
3+ years of legal experience focused on data privacy, cybersecurity, and technology transactions
Transferrable book of business required
Familiarity with U.S. and global privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and related frameworks
Experience drafting and negotiating data processing agreements, privacy policies, and SaaS/cloud service contracts
IAPP certification (CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or CIPT) preferred but not required
Strong client communication, analytical, and legal writing skills
Responsibilities:
Advise clients on data privacy compliance strategies, risk assessments, and incident response planning
Draft and revise privacy policies, cookie disclosures, and contractual provisions related to data use and security
Support clients in regulatory investigations, audits, and data breach response matters
Work with IP attorneys and technology counsel on cross-border transactions and product development
Monitor legal developments in privacy and cybersecurity law and translate them into practical guidance for clients
Contribute to firm publications, client alerts, and thought leadership in the privacy space
